THE SAKURA ENSEMBle was formed in 2009, and our members bring a wealth of international experiences to our presentations, from dance with the Bolshoi Ballet; to jazz festivals in Panzano – Chianti, Italy; to boston’s famed Café Budapest. We bring to each other a creative symbiosis of styles and eras which combine to create a unique spiritual and sensual experience for audiences.

Shizuno Nasu calls her mystical dances “spiral vision” which reflects our focus on the spiritual metaphysical realm. Our offerings are to heaven, and if others enjoy them, we are pleased. It is our intention to perform worldwide in praise of the divine and in prayer for peace.

Our venues are churches, schools and spaces of consciousness, and Our goal is to inspire, educate and entertain in that order. We are an association of heart, mind, ear and eye.

The quartet is unusual in that half are musicians, and half are visual artists. Susumu Sakaguchi as our painter in residence, and gives us visual inspiration reminding us that heaven and earth are one. ALL IS ONE.

Annu Shionoya and Jean Pierre Thoma as the aural reflections of the elements, provide the accompaniment of sound to lift us upward and outward. The keyboard and the wind of the flute complete the experience which the dance and paintings manifest.

We thank you for inviting us into your worlds.
